CJ’s latest standalone thriller, The End of Marking Time, was published in 2010.

CJ hosts a Blog Talk Radio show called The Thriller-30 each month where he interviews contemporary thriller and suspense writers. CJ embraces social networking and keeps in touch with readers on Goodreads and Facebook.

Latte, cappuccino, regular? What’s your coffee time pleasure?

Does coffee ice cream count? I hope this doesn’t get me thrown out of coffee time, but I don’t drink coffee. Never have. I know, weird for a writer.

Coffee ice cream definitely counts. In fact, scoop it into an iced coffee and it's heaven! What flavour cookie would you like with that?

The more chocolaty the better.

A man after my own heart! What’s your greatest writing achievement to date?

My book Sin & Vengeance was optioned for film. It is in development now. The second most exciting thing was my book The End of Marking Time selling nearly 2,000 copies in January.

Congrats! That's sooo fantastic! Who is your hero and why?

Doris West. I took her surname when I began writing to honor her. She was foster mother to 56 babies and through her love and kindness reshaped the lives of many people including me. She had an enormous impact on this world, more than anyone I have ever known.

That would make a hero in my book! Which word best defines your writing?

Unpredictable. My books bend the boundaries of the thriller genre as I adapt and follow the story I’m writing. My endings are varied so my readers cannot “know” the outcome of a book for certain until they reach the final page.

What’s the most recent thing that made you laugh?

I’m part of a number of secret groups on Facebook. I’m not sure how secret they are, but they aren’t open to the public. Anyway one of these Kindle groups is full of amateur comedians and they are always cracking me up. It makes working alone much more fun.

I know exactly which secret person you're referring to! Which book is on your coffee table right now?

Honestly I have nothing against coffee, but I don’t own a coffee table. My Kindle is on my nightstand and it has some great indie books. Disintegration, Scott Nicholson, Least Wanted, Debbi Mack, Take The Monkeys and Run, Karen Cantwell, and Model Agent, Sean Sweeney.

Good selection! What was the name of your first pet?

I think it was Tippy Toes. Tippy Toes was a cat that my brother stuffed into a cereal box. He shook the box and handed it to me. I was three years old. It was not pretty. If you see me in person, I’ll show you the scars.

Oh, bless poor Tippy Toes (love that name)! Who is your favourite character and why?

I assume you mean one of mine. Randy Black is my favorite. He can do or say anything. He is an amazing driver, marksman, lover and he has come to a point in his life where he’s willing to take big risks. He’s an incredibly liberating guy to write.

Shame he's not real! What’s your most embarrassing moment?

My most embarrassing moment comes in three parts. Part 1: I went fishing in the winter with my father and purposely didn’t wear long underwear because it wasn’t cool. Part 2: My father made up a song to mock me and sang it to me for 30 years. Part 3: My daughter learned the song and recently sang a bit of it on the air on my Blog Talk Radio program.

Yep. That song on air would definitely constitute embrrassing!
